Dr Ashleigh Ray
Director | Medical Doctor
I’m a medical doctor and founder of Coal Coast Medicinal. My interests are in holistic care, women’s health, mental health, Indigenous health and LGBTQIA+ health. I grew up locally, graduating from Bulli High school - I remember when Thirroul only had one set of traffic lights.
Most of my patients have been suffering for a long time, trying lots of different mainstream treatments which maybe haven’t worked or have had intolerable side effects. It’s really fulfilling to tailor care to these patients and to explore all options together, in a way that is empowering and educational.
In addition to my Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), I also hold a Masters of Public Health in Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing (with Excellence), a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Performance), a Masters of Nursing Practice, plus a Certificate 3 in Design Fundamentals (Ceramics) and Diploma of Ceramics from TAFE.

Ashley Bundang
Practice Manager
I’m excited to bring my background in community services, business operations, and the arts, to my role as Practice Manager at Coal Coast Medicinal.
Over the past 15 years, I’ve spent a good chunk of that time playing music. Primarily creating and performing with others, I deeply value connection and collaboration. So it’s no surprise that alongside my creative practice, I’ve also built a career in community services, working in the mental health, education, and disability sectors.
Throughout these roles I actively advocate for agency and self-efficacy, and witnessing what can be achieved by harnessing one’s strengths and inner resources is my favourite part about working with people.
Fascinated by human behaviour, I’m currently pursuing a Psychology degree, with a particular interest in child development, social psychology, and the intersection of psychology and the arts.
